Based on the current state-of-the-art, the purpose of this study is to review the area and discuss the details of family firms, their competitiveness, and prospects of growth as well as the cultural traits which can be useful for business development. The study provides a framework by combining and illustrating the above dynamics within the Arabic business context.
This study will shed light on the neglected research field of family firms and organizational culture by expanding the current knowledge of family business management yet focusing on the cultural dynamics and influences in the Arab world. Also, it aims at offering practical recommendations to managers who are owners or members of family firms, striving to advance the competitiveness of their firms.
This study will provide knowledge and insights that will be beneficial for strengthening the competitiveness of the family businesses in this region. Specifically, the outcome of the study will be to propose ways and means by which these firms can enhance their competitive strengths, and overcome obstacles in their effort to survive from incoming competition, expand their business, and reach new markets.
